when everyone else forgets...

my heart is still so heavy for Japan..

my heart is still heavy for this terrible tragedy
it's easy for me to forget about Haiti/New Zealand/Japan
after they leave the media limelight
but i believe it's the time stretch after all the buzz has died down that those
countries need the most support
...
reminds me of the mat kearney song
"And when the smoke cleared, it took her breath away
She said she didn't believe 'it could happen to me'
I guess we're all one phone call from our knees ..."

Come One, Come All

I cannot wait for Water for Elephants to come out in April.
And to think...we're less than a month away!
Keeping with that spirit, here's a few fun themed wedding pictures.

Happy Friday!

go van gogh

Is it Thursday yet?
The boy and I are planning to meet up with some sweet peps
at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to take in the
Impressionist and Post-Impressionist Masterpieces.

(Source: encoreuneminute)
I can't wait to feast my eyes on some beautiful paintings.
Charlie's sentiments on this excursion?
"I’m excited about this, I love impressionists. My favorite is a good Christopher Walken impression. "
...On a side note...
doesn't Vincent look like Jesse Tyler from Modern Family?

Here She Is!

This news has been out for a while now but I would like to offer my
kudos for the new "American" Lisbeth Salander.
I'm also thanking my lucky stars Kristen Stewart wasn't chosen for
another one of my favorite leading lady roles.

{photos via huffington post}
She has some major NFL connections.
Her family owns the Pittsburgh steelers and the NYgiants.
Also, her sister is actress kate mara, last seen playing Brittany on HBO's entourage.
Pretty exciting!

The Real Reader

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends;
they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors,
and the most patient of teachers.

~ Charles W. Eliot

[The Reader, Jean-Honore Fragonard]

uumm, you've got something on your face...

Check out artist (and diver) Jason deCaires Taylor
He creates these immense ingots and anchors them to the seabed.
He chooses material conducive to marine life, so that new coral reefs adhere and grow.
Neat, huh?
Did you know? Over the past few decades we’ve lost over 40% of our natural coral reefs.
Sad day.
Like water, we are truest to our nature in repose.
~Cyril Connolly

let's go...

To Guam!

as, yyoouuu wwiissshhh

So I found this quote,
Do I love you? My God, if your love were a grain of sand, mine would be a universe of beaches.
— The Princess Bride
and asked my husband if he could guess where it was from.
His guess,
"Home Alone."
I laughed and said,
"NO, I'll give you another hint,
'As, yyyoouuu wwwiisshhhh.'"
To which my clever man responded
"Home Alone 2?"
I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen; not only because I can see it, but because I can see everything by it.

a bit of sunshine

I love it when my sister calls me with "Trip/Nate/Luke Stories".
They are so hilarious and brighten my day.
This morning's edition was a link to our childhood together...
whenever I would be "acting the fool" as the little sister, Kelley would quote Ramona Quimby's dad,
"First time Funny.
Second time Silly
Third time annoying."
Well this morning as Trip and Nate were brushing their teeth,
Kelley overheard Trip tell Nate (who was singing and jumping around)
"Nate,First time Funny. "
Second time Silly
Third time annoying
and you've done that 4 times already.
I love these kids!
Some of my other favorite Twardowski-isms are:
"I was just punching him a little bit"

just loverly

Pretty much sums up my weekend!
It was lovely.
Hope your's was too!

Go ahead… eat that slice of chocolate cake, splash in those muddy puddles after a rainstorm, tell someone you love them, draw a picture with crayons like you’re still 6 years old and then give it to someone who is very important to you.
 Do something selfless everyday.
Volunteer at a soup kitchen, go on a mission trip, fill up someone’s meter, take a homeless person to dinner, make a difference in the life of a child.
Take a nap, go on vacation, do a cartwheel, make up your own recipe, dance like no one sees you, paint each nail a different color, take a bubble bath, laugh with your friends.
Run a marathon, plant a garden, learn a new language, write a song, go on a picnic, relax in the sun, sing in your car out loud with the windows down, hug the unhugged, love the unloved and praise and thank God everyday.

my kinda good

21st Birthday

This weekend we got to celebrate with Charlie's little sister, Catria's, special day.
With a delicious dinner and a limo ride.
"You so prettay.. Like Madol"
We laughed alot
and I was terribly impressed with the wine room at Perry's Steakhouse.
This lobster wasn't too shabby either.
It was a wonderful evening on the town with our fun family!

"A Night at the Ballet..."

,said in the snootiest british acccent you can muster, was glorious!
All of the ladies got dressed up for a fancy dinner with our men
and then we were off to
one of the most beautiful ballet performances I've ever seen.
The dancing had me sitting on the edge of my seat
and the orchestra music gave me chills.
Even the costumes were technically art.
It was one of those nights that as Anne Shirley would say,
"Practically ruins every day life forever."

Go, Go, Rodeo

Don't judge us for being tourists in our own city.
We were excited to ride the light rail for the first time.
I mean I had heard so many infamous stories about these crazy trains
running down unsuspecting Houstonians that I had to document our journey.
Of course we ate good food and drank good margaritas.
And saw, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly buying their dinners together.
Seeing these three officers together reminded Charlie of the t-shirts and pictures
with A&M, Texas Tech and UT all together...
hence, The Good = A&M, The Bad = Tech and The Ugly = t.u.
We couldn't get enough of the ropin' and ridin'
and we were feeling mighty patriotic since it was military appreciation night.
And Mr. Trace did not disappoint one bit.
I sang my little heart out to almost all of the songs!
My favorite being, Honky Tony Badonkadonk which goes a little something like this,
"Honey you can't blame her for what her moma gave her...
hate to see her go but love to watch her leave."
aaaawwww, yeah
It was a boot stompin' good 'ol time.
